Icycle: mission powered eyewear startup saving the world one frame at a time

Icycle is the eyewear startup on a big mission to bring a positive change to the world with their ingenious circular supply chain that empowers a local community in Pune, India. Founded earlier this year, Icycle is the brainchild of four Warwick University students — Jonathan, Paul, Aaron and Mads, who have just launched their Kickstarter campaign.

The idea behind the startup is simple yet ingenious. In the spirit of creating value within a circular economy, the startup employs local waste pickers in the region Pune, India to collect recyclable plastics to turn into recyclable eyewear frames. For every pair of eyewear bought, Icycle donates a frame to the local community to help those who otherwise would not be able to afford eye care.
